This hotel was a real gem. We stayed in Switzerland for 19 days in mostly 3 star hotels. We finished with 5 nights in Montreux. The Royal Plaza is a true 5 star priced like a 3 star (CHF 270 per night). We had a gorgeous room with full lake side view. The room was spacious and clean and very comfortable. (Full AC and real soft beds). Bathroom was well appointed and very clean. The maid did a good job of keeping the room clean. Short walk on the promenade to the boat docks and one bus stop from the train station (route 204). Staff very helpful and friendly. Room did not include breakfast so we chose the continental breakfast for CHF 15 per person per day. Not many breakfast choices around the hotel. Restaurants in Montreau are expensive and not very good. We found a fantastic Tai restaurant on the lake a 5 minute walk from the Hotel. Mai Tai Restaurant. A true treasure. We ate there 3 times and if you like Tai food you must try it out. Another travel trip. Do not miss Vevey a 5 minute train ride on the lake. A quaint and beautiful lakeside village oozing with French charm. Restaurants are very good there. We found Lausanne a bit disappointing. If you have time try the walk down through the Lavou wine vineyards from the hill village of Chexbres (get there by train from Montreau and switch at Vevey) down to the small and quaint village of St Saphorin. About an hour downhill through the vineyards with a beautiful view of the lake. There are signs post along the way telling you about the practice of managing vinyards.

Great location in Montreux, literally on the lakefront of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva) - an easy and beautiful 10min stroll (or 3min bus ride) from Montreux main train station. For those so inclined, a great base from which to take much longer walks along the lake in either direction, e.g. all the way to visit Chateau Chillon, and of course from which to visit all of Montreux and surrounds, including the infamous train journeys available from Montreux heading up into the mountains and regions beyond. At the right time of year, you're in the middle of the action for Christmas markets/ Montreux Jazz/ many other festivals and lake events. Although the style/decor of the hotel is a bit "dated" (think 70s-80s thick carpets/ gold fittings, etc), this is still a 5* Swiss hotel: all facilities and amenities, service, reception and views are top class. Having spa/wellness on site is a definite major plus, and the cuisine and restaurant service was top notch - making for an overall very comfortable stay and I'd certainly stay here again.

I’m far from attentive when booking hotels etc. This time, I misunderstood the room layout, leading to me and my daughter sharing a double bed. The hotel was understanding, generous and offered us a room I assume is 50% more expensive. We greatly appreciated the generosity. The hotel is located close to Montreuxs centre. There is no need to use the free public transport ticket the city includes in the tourist tax, at least if you’re only there to wander in the city. Gorgeous location, pleasant atmosphere and personell. Affordable, among the competition. There’s not much to not like. The spa was appreciated by my daughter and we both had a pleasant visit to Montreux. Some of the credit goes to the hotel- thanks!

Greta quiet location on the montreux riviera down a but from the crowded busy areas. A stroll to the jazz garden via street and a beautiful walk from the back entrance along the riviera with amazing displays of flowers and great views across the lake. Pool & spa included in price. Good private raised sun deck. Rooms are clean with enough room for a couple of nights stay. Small bathroom. Bedding, towels, room all spotless and very relaxing. All staff are courteous and more than willing to help everyone out. Fluent English spoken also by all staff.

The location of the hotel is exceptional - not too far from the railway station, easy to reach by feet, but a bit away from the noisy touristic crowds, at the very edge of the lake. Nice beds, towels and bathrobe. A positive surprise was warm floor in the bathroom and good drainage in the shower. Lots of storage space in the room is also a plus. Breakfast was decent, although a bit "dry": no free options for omelette or Benedicte eggs, no one offered to bring coffee, etc.
